Hi! Thanks for looking over our website. I hope it answers some of your questions about who we are at United Church of Christ, Congregational in Brule; and First Congregational Church, United Church of Christ in Ogallala.
Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Pastor Lisa Hadler. I’m pretty new to the Brule-Ogallala Parish myself, having just started here on September 15th of 2014. Before coming to Nebraska, I served a year long interim ministry at Community Congregational United Church of Christ in Kalispell, Montana. And before that, I was in Ottawa, Illinois for 9 years.
I’m a native Midwesterner, from the Quad Cities of Iowa and Illinois. I’m a graduate of Illinois State University and Andover Newton Theological School near Boston. I was ordained a pastor in 1986, and until recently spent my career in Illinois and Iowa.
I share my home with two cats, Leo and Dixon; and my dog, Mercy. In my spare time, I read a lot;I’m kind of a classic movie buff; am teaching myself piano (I took lessons in Illinois, and am slowly building on what I learned); like to hike and do birdwatching, and spend time with my pets. My family is mostly in Illinois and Wisconsin, and I like to get there when I can.
Mostly, I hope my life and work reflect what I believe about Jesus. I believe that Jesus came as an expression of God’s great love for us. Jesus shares a relationship with God that makes him truly “God with us”, and we can enhance our relationships with God by imitating Jesus. I believe that God has given us, through Jesus, the gift of eternal life. This gift gives us no reason to fear anything or anyone, so we can take stands for justice, peace, and love which can transform our world. I believe the heart of Jesus’ teaching is inclusion of everyone in God’s kingdom, generosity towards all people, and radical forgiveness which heals relationships.
I hope that my life, preaching, and teaching reflect the things I believe about Jesus. I also hope you’ll visit our congregations to find out. You’ll find yourself welcome with us. As congregations of the United Church of Christ, we welcome you, no matter who you are, or where you are on life’s journey.
Come, worship with us; in Brule at 9:00AM each Sunday; at 10:45 AM in Ogallala. If I can be of service to you, don’t hesitate to call the churches, Brule: 308-287-2311; Ogallala: 308-284-3601. Leave a message if necessary, and I’ll get back to you soon.
I hope you’ll take our invitation to get to know me, and the churches of the Brule-Ogallala Parish!
